Tim Valentine: Green Party parliamentary candidate for Faversham and Mid Kent
Tim Valentine has lived in Selling since 2000. He is a professor of psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he teaches in psychology and law. He acts as an expert on facial identification for the courts, and provided advice for the defence in the cases of Barry George (wrongly convicted for murder of Jill Dando), Abdulbaset al Megrahi (convicted for the Lockerbie bomb) and Omar Deghayes (a British resident formerly detained at Guantanamo Bay).
Tim has been actively involved in environmental campaigns for many years. He has contributed to improvements in the regulations for burning waste in cement kilns, and gave oral evidence to the House of Commons Environment Select Committee in 1996. He chaired the national steering group of Ethics for USS - a successful campaign for the universities pension fund to adopt a socially responsible investment strategy. He is a trustee of FairPensions, a charity that campaigns for responsible investment, especially by occupational pension funds. Tim is a member of the Transition Town Faversham group, which has recently become affiliated to the national Transition Town Movement.
